Bangladesh have continued their decaying show with the bat and were bowled out for just 204 by Pakistan, with Shaheen Shah Afridi taking key wickets in the ODI World Cup game in Kolkata.

Mahmudullah (56) turned up with another half-century for the Tigers while Litton Das (45) and Shakib Al Hasan (43) got starts but failed to carry on at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

Afridi (3-23) first snared Tanzid Hasan (0) with the fifth ball of the innings. The wily left-arm seamer then took out Najmul Hossain Shanto, who again failed to see runs and returned for only 3, and went through the gates of Mahmudullah later.

Bangladesh, who chose to bat, were tottering on 23 for 3 inside the powerplay, during which they could manage only 37 runs, before Mahmudullah paired up with Litton in a 79-run fourth wicket resistance.

Mahmudullah was on song and laced his 70-ball innings with 6 fours and a six. Shakib, looking low on confidence at the start, got off slowly before working out four boundaries in his 64-ball knock.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz added 23 to the total in a 45-run resistance with his skipper, who holed out to Haris Rauf (2-36) and left Bangladesh in shambles on 185 for 7 in the 40th over.

Mohammad Wasim (3-31) then cleaned up the tail after Bangladesh pushed past the 200-run mark, surviving 45.1 overs.
